The Bridge at Mostar, Bosnia was reopened in 2004, following an estimated $13m reconstruction, after the original 16th-Century bridge was blown up in 1993 during the bitter fighting between the city’s Muslims and Croats in the Bosnian war.
Arching across the Neretva river, the Stari Most, or Old Bridge, was reconstructed using the same methods and materials which the original Turkish architects employed nearly 500 years ago.
